APPLICATION
Cables and Wires
Cables and wires are vital components in various industries, from automotive and electrical engineering to construction and telecommunications. Every meter of cable requires identification markings, such as production codes, gauges, voltages, specifications, logos, or manufacturing dates.
This marking is crucial to ensure traceability and compliance with industry standards. However, the curved, flexible, and fast-moving surfaces of cables make the printing process challenging.
CHALLENGE
SOLUTION
Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) technology is the global industry standard for cable and wire marking.
This printer can operate at high speeds, print continuously on circular surfaces, and produce clear text or codes without touching the material.
Key advantages:
- Capable of printing at high extrusion speeds (up to 1,000 m/min).
- Special cable inks are available in a variety of contrasting colors (white, black, yellow, etc.).
- Can print on various materials: PVC, PE, Teflon, rubber, or coated metal.
- The ink dries quickly, doesn't fade easily, and is heat-resistant.
- Can be integrated with an encoder system to print at a fixed distance along the cable.
For the production of large diameter cables or short pieces, Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) can be used because of its very high resolution and neat results.
Advantages:
- High resolution (up to 600 dpi) with very sharp print results.
- Suitable for flat cables, Large power cord or plastic sleeve.
- The pigment ink is abrasion-resistant and can print small logos or barcodes.
- Low maintenance, simply replace the cartridge.
In addition to the printing process, a smart camerais used to automatically verifythe code printed on the cable, ensuring legibility and character accuracy.
Advantages:
- Detects missing, blurred, or illegible codes.
- Direct integration with the printer for correction Real-time.
- Suitable for large-scale cable automation industries.
